The most popular questions that clients ask us, in one form or another, are about search engine optimization (SEO).
Don
Foster, of Nestor Falls Marine, “would like help as far as getting more
visible on the web” and Terry Gill, of Ontario Wilderness
Houseboat Rentals, would like to know more about “optimization for Google
searches [as] our site is still lower on 'Lake of the Woods' searches”.
So, without further ado, here are 5 basic SEO tips to keep in mind:
- Use keywords and keyword phrases appropriately in text links and image ALT tags.
- Be sure to have good, well-written, and unique content that focusses on your keywords and key phrases.
- Search
engines want to see natural language, when considering your written
content. Don’t try to stuff your text with keywords. It won’t work.
- Fresh
content can help improve your rankings. By adding new, useful content to
your pages on a regular basis, relevancy has been added to your site in
the eyes of the search engines.
- Don’t
be obsessed with page rankings. They are just one part of the ranking
algorithm. Not to mention, you can jam-pack your site with as many
keywords and phrases as you want, but if users get there and you have no
worthwhile content, it won't matter.
